I am working to solve as many issues as possible and please call or email me with any issues. I am here for the members and will do anything I can to make the work place a good place to work.
Our Trustee, James C. Briner, 56, of Harrisburg, formerly of Sunbury, died at Sunbury Community Hospital on Monday, June 9, 2008. More information is on the "News From the Union" page.
Dear Brothers and Sisters,
It is time again for our quarterly update. We have reached spring and the fast approaching end of another school year. Where does the time go?
We have been busy the last couple of months. News I am pleased to inform you of is the new website for our local. You can access this website at www.wssdlocal2865.org. We will be updating the website with new information as soon as we receive it. You can find meetings dates, upcoming events and other news from AFSCME. You can contact all of our officers by using this website. Each officer has a direct link to contact them via email. I would like to thank Paul Boyer for all his time and hard work he has put into getting this website up and running. He will also be the person who will keep the information up to date. We all need to extend a “Thank You” to Paul.
We have discussed with our members and officers, with all in agreement, to use the website for all information on our meetings. I would ask you to contact me if you do not have access to a computer. We will continue to use the mailing system for those members. Please call me at 932-7970 with your name and address so I have current information. We will still be posting letters, monthly, on the bulletin boards.
At our March meeting it was voted upon to cancel the meeting scheduled on April 12th. The new meeting date is scheduled for Saturday, May 17th at 10:00am to 11:30am. We will be holding this meeting at the AFSCME District Council 89 conference center. Enclosed are directions on how to get to the conference center.
Please take the time to complete the survey form that we have included with this letter. An issue was discussed at our March meeting with regards to the fees we are being charged to hold the monthly meetings at Crossroads. Many of us feel that the charges are too high but we want your opinion and suggestions. We need your thoughts on meeting places and general ideas for the meetings, also how often meetings should be held. If you know of a place that we could hold meetings for free or for a small fee let us know. We hope to reduce our expenses so we can build a stronger treasury. You can send the surveys to Penny Fink at Transportation or Seth Coffman at ACE/Maintenance by using the district’s inner office mail system.
In closing I am pleased to say that things have been moving along quite well and with your help, we have proven that together we can get things done. I hope to see more of you at the meetings. We love to see new faces. Get involved! Remember, “We Fight, We Win”. The August meeting information will be on its way to you soon. Until then, take care.
Yours in Solidarity,
Penny Fink
